Liam Neeson stars in your average action film.
When Scudder, an ex-NYPD cop reluctantly agrees to help heroin trafficker Kenny Kristo hunt down the men who kidnapped and then brutally murdered his wife, the private investigator learns that this is not the first time these men have committed this sort of twisted crime…nor will it be the last. Blurring the lines between right and wrong, Scudder races to track the deviants through the backstreets of New York City before they kill again.
There really isn’t anything special about Liam Neeson’s latest action movie. The storyline is a pretty average kidnap/murder story and I’m sure we’ve seen something very similar before. There were numerous twists throughout the film, but they were all predictable.
Liam Neeson’s performance was quite strong, though his character doesn’t seem that different to other characters he’s played in other action films. The supporting cast was rather weak and a lot of the acting was very over the top. If you are looking for an escapism action film this probably isn’t the one, as some of the scenes can be quite graphic.
Overall there are better action films to watch, but this certainly isn’t one of the worst action films of the year.
